Pete Ayres

Pete Ayres graduated with a B.A. (Hons.) in Technical Theatre Arts, specialising in Lighting Design. He has worked extensively in the field of Contemporary Dance, designing for, well-known European artists and touring several times with the Jazz Dance Company. He has worked in a variety of venues - from African amphitheatres, Berlin bus depots, Croatian castles and metropolitan motorways to nationally important playhouses such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Place Theatre and The South Bank (London), Schauspielhaus (Hamburg), The Cultural Centre of Kaunas (Lithuania), and Addis Ababa City Hall (Ethiopia). He has been involved in several Community Dance projects, including productions in Berlin, Luxembourg, London, Tenerife and Carnegie Hall, often including hundreds of participants, ranging from street children of Peru and groups of mixed ability performers, to Senior Citizens of Germany and young women of immigrant families.

Although his specialism is Lighting Design, Pete’s experience in other fields of Entertainment is almost as diverse as the places in which he has designed, having been Technical Director, Production Manager and Technical Manager for several companies, Sound Engineer on a cruise ship, Deputy Stage Manager of The Comedy Store (London) for five years, Venue Manager at the Edinburgh Festival, both Roadie and LD for a variety of Music Festivals, and ten years as the Senior Technician in a University Performing Arts faculty, responsible for more than a hundred productions annually. He has also taught Technical Theatre Arts both at university and elsewhere around the world, and was Technical Consultant to Kreposnoi Ballet (Siberia).

He continues to work on performances for charitable organisations around the world, notably in H.M. Prisons and with Young Offenders in the U.K.
